Project Evaluation
The group project is a major part of this course and will be worth
50% of the grades for this class. Each student will be graded individually
so your individual project report is also important. The team project
will be evaluated according to the following guidelines.
- Technical (50%)
Correct application of automation/programming
for function, convenience, and visual presentation.
Correct XHTML
Fluid grid that reacts well to display size/resolution and window resizeing
All links work
Download speed
Appearance on different platforms, under different browsers
Easy to upgrade and maintain
W3C validated XHTML 1.0 Strict code
Accessibility and Usability
Correct CSS
All style sheets must pass W3C CSS validation
Correct display on major browsers
Each team must show they can make the pages display correctly on
major browsers. But it is not necessary to do that for every single page.
If an effort is made to show that the team has the technical ability
to make a few pages display correctly on both the Mozilla-based
browsers (NN, Firefox, Mozilla) and other browsers (IE, Safari)
then all will be fine.
Javascript and DOM incorporation (required) and appropriate use
Form and form processing incorporation (required)
Other CGI features (download/upload ...) as appropriate, extra
Avoid direct use of tool-generated HTML or CSS code. You
must hand-code or hand-tune the code to be compact and efficient.
- Organization (20%)
Does the information make sense?
Is the information architecture logical? innovative?
What kind of information is the viewer looking for on the site and is
it there?
When you click on a section does is take you to where you think you
should go?
Does the copy make sense?
Are three spelling, grammar errors?
Does the copy need to be edited?
Does information need to be added in order to make sense?

Concept/idea
Unity/diversity/balance
Any forms must be designed to fit into the site
Permutations from page to page are interesting
Achieving requirements and objectives
Consistency
Color, type, layout used effective
