The Adopt a Pioneer Program at Pioneer Cemetery
Thank you
for joining us in caring for the Pioneer Cemetery. We hope that you will find
the experience interesting and know that your participation will help to
beautify the cemetery where so many of our founders are buried. These few
instructions should help get you started.
You will be given a green stake for each site that you care to decorate.
Place this stake in the ground where you intend to plant to indicate that you
have claimed that site.
Choose any sites that you wish that are not occupied by a green stake. Many
of the grave stones are broken and may not be in the actual place of burial. In
the past we have placed the plantings close to the grave stone. We have also
plated at the site where a base is present but no stone. There are many stones
standing along the fence. You might wish to plant in front of those. Any place
that seems appropriate to you is satisfactory.
Use any type of planting that you think would be all right. You may make
permanent plantings if you wish.
We would like to try to have plantings in by Decoration Day (Memorial
Day)
Water may not be available, and if not, please make arrangements to bring
water to care for your plantings as needed.
We hope that you will be able to maintain the plantings throughout the
summer.
Thank you again for joining us in this project.
